Mama Pack advertising

I spent the whole of tonight (Friday) putting together my samples for the Mama Packs. For more info on Mama packs see http://www.wahm.co.uk/store/

Anyway, I have been lovingly putting together the samples and business cards all evening.
I quite enjoyed it too. Brings out the crafty side. I really hope the recipients like them.

I put in Imse Vimse organic cotton washcloths, something really handy to have in my humble opinion :-)

Kind of a day off...

I spent an hour or so this morning ordering some more bibs and updating the website. Then I updated some advertising with the new Mum2Mum bibs.

I went to visit a friend this afternoon. It was lovely to get away from the computer and have a cup of tea and a gossip.

Today I got an email to say my Northern Essence order has been despatched. I can't wait as their stuff is gorgeous. My only regret is that I didn't order a lot and it takes some time to be made up and shipped. If it sells quickly I'll definately order again and get more bath and body stuff in. Ooo I can't wait.

We have had no take up from the press release as yet. I am secretly breathing a sigh of relief! My friend Jaimie keeps ribbing me about going on the One show and Hardeep coming for a visit...pmsl. Gah...I think I would be sick.

I finally got an order in to Bumgenius. They now do Bamboo fitted nappies as well as pockets which is fab.

On the upside I signed up to become part of Lancashire County Councils Bottom Line scheme. I am really chuffed about this, as it was their scheme that got me interested in nappies in the first place. It feels a real honour to be part of it. Hopefully it means I can make more mums aware of the gorgeousness of cloth as well as the positive effect they have on the environment.

So all looking good xxxx

New bibs

Oooo the most gorgeous bibs arrived this morning from Mum2Mum.

The colours are so vibrant and the material so soft.

I am sooo tempted to take a couple out of stock for Mia. I especially love the lime green. I really hope they do well as they are just so fab. If they sell well I will extend the colour range and I hope we get some good reviews on them too.

Press release...

A friend of mine has done a press release for me....eeeek.

Honestly I didn't ask her to do it but its fab. Well, she is in advertising!

I really hope this will bring me some new customers in and then I can extend my stock range even further. I have some fab ideas about where I want to take this venture, but money just won't allow it at the moment.

The insane thing is I love sitting at my computer for hours after the kids are in bed...well 3 of them anyway, having a root round the internet for quirky items and free advertising.

My wish list of things to stock is getting longer by the day.

Weighing stock..

Amazing what you can use a pair of kitchen scales for!!! I never knew they could be so multi-talented.

I am endeavouring to weigh all stock so I can work out royal mail postage.

I have had to wait till Archie is having his nap though. Just imagine a boistrous 2 year old chucking nappies and wipes around, a frantic mother checking none are covered in the chocolate biscuit she gave him to keep him quiet!! lol.
So Mia has been fed and is happily in her (ok my) favourite bouncer chair so I had better get on with the job in hand.

Aquiring new stock.

I am sourcing new stock all the time.

Some of the products out there are just gorgeous and I am only buying in what I would buy for my children. Maybe thinking how a mum would buy will help.

The bibs I buy have to be a little bit different, something that another mum might comment on. Practical, funky and good value for money.

New stock due in this week are bibs made by Mum2Mum. They look gorgeous and are just a little bit different whilst still great value for money.

24 hrs a day at the computer

That's what it feels like.

The amount of work I have put in since I got my site 10 days ago is untrue. I am thankful that I am able to breastfeed my 3 month old daughter and type at the same time. Sometimes she is just flat out asleep across my knees.

poor child :p

I have had some great support along the way. Yzzy and Robert from http://www.wahm.co.uk/ and other WAHMs have given me loads of advice, IT and business support. Plus I have a friend Lorna who is amazing and gave me some real tasks to help get me up and running and get my business out there. So thank you all. x

From thought to internet site…

I couldn’t decide what was holding me back so when Mia entered the world I decided to just go for it!

I ordered a Mama Pack when I was pregnant and that got me thinking. There are tons of talented WAHMs out there who have managed it…why couldn’t I?
Well i can’t sew, can’t even manage a sewing machine despite my best efforts..lol. I can knit but with 4 children I just don’t have the time. So cloth nappies it is…

Decision made I ‘bought’ a free WAHM store from the site. While the store was being built I set about finding wholesalers who would take a poor penniless woman on :p
So, goodies on their way and store being set up. No going back now!!!!

How it all started….

Well…the seed was sown over 2 years ago when I had my 3rd baby Archie. I converted to cloth nappies when he was about 10 weeks old. I just couldn’t bear the sight of the mountain of disposables going into the bin every week. Plus they smell awful..

Our local council (Lancashire County Council) run a voucher scheme and this is what I used to get my first nappies.

A lovely lady came to our house and showed me the different types of nappies , so i purchased my first nappies from her. 10 tots bots bamboozles and Motherease wraps. I couldn’t wait to get started and the pre washes to get them up to full absorbancy seemed to take an age.

I loved them and the thrill of helping the environment spurred me on to look at different types of fitted nappies.

At 5 months old archie went to nursery and I was most impressed when his nursery agreed to continue our good work and use cloth nappies on him.
I succesfully used these nappies for 2 years on Archie. They are looking a little tired and worn out now, but when I think of the money I have saved it really spurs me on.

When I became pregnant with my 4th baby I decided to look into using a different kind of cloth nappy..Pockets. Pockets are nappies that you stuff with absorbant materials such as hemp, microfibre and cotton bamboo. These nappies go on like a disposable and you take the stuffing out to wash them. Even Grannies and Grandads can use these…easy.

I always wanted to start my own business and I have such a passion for the gorgeousness of cloth nappies it seemed like an ideal opportunity to pass on my knowledge and hopefully encourage new mums into the world of cloth.

Why would you want to put paper on your babies bum when you can put gorgeous soft cloth there?
